Born Into Brothels
About: Born into Brothels takes place in the Red Light district of India, which is where poverty thrives the worse. When developing this documentary, the film makers primary motive was to be able to show the world the horrors and actual life of living in the poverty district because it's something that is overlooked in America. Their motive for the kids was to inspire them to want to change their own lives and to get themselves out of the hardships that keep them in tied down in the Brothels. At the end of the documentary, they show how the kids lives have changed, but with further investigation, most of the kids couldn't handle the life they had been handed with the assistance of the filmmakers so they have since returned to the poverty of the Red Light district.
"Nobody here understands anything but money."
Political Connection: Society molds people into thinking that there is no way to escape poverty once you've grown up in it, it's so deeply submersed into our cultures. Even with the hope for a better tomorrow with the assistance of those who want to help, people are constantly returning to the lives that they feel the most comfortable and familiar with.
